Digital Planning had grown exponentially since launch. After 4 years it was turning over £1m and recruiting strongly.
However, the speed of growth meant that limited attention had been paid to its own comms. A basic, outdated website, no central narrative, and a dormant Linked in company page failed to reflect the company’s remarkable progress.

1284 Communications provided a structured, insight-driven plan to better reflect Digital Planning’s place as an emerging player in the Midlands AI and automation market. An integrated campaign of brand messaging, stakeholder engagement, targeted content creation, and public relations ensued.
By reframing Digital Planning’s narrative from start-up to high growth scale-up, the business was positioned rightfully as an innovation leader.
The results were compelling: within 8 months Digital Planning gained almost £300,000 of new work and pipeline leads from PR.
The company also benefited from a string of regional and national award nominations, several wins, and various thought leadership opportunities relating to AI-driven resource management. The company was shortlisted in the 2025 Barclays Entrepreneurship Awards.
Its executive team were invited to UK-level industry and investment roundtables, interviewed by the BBC, and appeared alongside Google on a panel sponsored and facilitated by Barclays.
There was a dramatic uptick in media coverage, search visibility, and LinkedIn engagement. Success in recognised awards opened up new opportunities to meet investors and industry leaders. Digital Planning was invited onto national growth programmes led by the likes of EY.
In 2025, the company became a Strategic Partner of East Midlands Chamber - the UK's largest chamber of commerce - having built an AI tool which was originally ideated by 1284 Communications.
Meanwhile, 1284 supported on comms as Digital Planning's in-house developers launched a new brand and website, while also helping the SLT as they built premium AI partnerships with investors and education institutions ranging from the University of Derby to the Gulf Medical University and the Royal Society.
