1284 Communications has two of only 94 Chartered PR Practitioners operating in the Midlands.

It places managing director George Oliver and account director Amy Orton among a select group of professionals operating at the top of the regional industry.

George was awarded Chartered PR Practitioner status by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in 2022, with Amy achieving the recognition a year later.

Chartered PR is the highest status that can be achieved in the profession. This places George and Amy in a highly select group of professionals who have chosen to hold themselves to the highest standards of practice, ethics, and ongoing development.

It demonstrates a growing demand for professional accreditation across what remains an unregulated sector.

Within that number, only a small proportion have reached full Chartered Practitioner status.

Just 94 people in the Midlands  hold Chartered PR practitioner status - with the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) recently announcing it has now reached 1,000 Chartered members.

Chartership requires practitioners to rigorously demonstrate their judgement, their ethical approach, and their impact, while committing to continuous professional development.

1284 won Small PR Agency of the Year 2026 at the CIPR Midlands PR awards earlier this year and are shortlisted for Small PR Agency of the Year in the CIPR excellence awards.

MD George Oliver - who has been invited to present on AI in PR at this week’s CIPR Midlands PR Conference - said: “Chartership is about being able to stand behind the advice you give.

“It’s a process that tests your judgement, your experience, and how you approach the role communications plays in real organisations. That’s what makes it valuable - not just for us, but for the clients we work with.”

Account director Amy Orton added: ““For me, Chartership reflects how seriously you take the role of communications.

“It’s about consistency, ethics, and delivering work that genuinely makes a difference. Being part of such a small group reinforces the responsibility that comes with that.”
