1284 Communications has welcomed intern, Bobola Olatunde, to support its work with Leicester’s largest junior basketball club over the summer.

Bobola joins 1284 while studying Economics and Management at Loughborough University, having previously completed A-levels in Maths, Business, and Geography.

During his time with 1284, Bobola will support Leicester Dynamite’s work on developing its commercial and sponsorship opportunities.

1284’s work with Leicester Dynamite is part of the Leicester PR agency’s pro bono work under its ESG strategy.

Bobola will help the club - which plays out of WQE College in Leicester - articulate its community impact and will play a key role in shaping a refreshed sponsorship pack aimed at attracting new partners.

Alongside his academic work, Bobola’s interests include sport, graphic design, video editing and entrepreneurship - a mix he hopes to develop while working for 1284.

“My long-term ambition is to acquire and run a football club, so building experience in sports club management is really important to me right now,” said Bobola.

“The internship at 1284 felt like a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in sports communications and marketing.

“Working with clubs like Leicester Dynamite is exactly the kind of environment I want to build a career in.”

1284 has been working with Leicester Dynamite on a pro bono basis, as part of its ESG programme of work with non-profit organisations.

Earlier this year, 1284 helped Dynamite to secure a Let’s Get Moving community sport marketing grant, supporting a major investment in a new website, designed by 1284 and delivered by long-time associate, web developer Graham Barr.

The revamped site gives the club a digital identity that better reflects its winning story, safeguarding standards, inclusive ethos and player outcomes.

1284 has also revamped Dynamite’s social media and wrote, edited, and designed the club’s first Season Review, which has been sent to club stakeholders.

Bobola’s interest in design and content creation will also be used to help present the club’s story in a more engaging, commercially focused way.

Managing Director, George Oliver, said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Bobola to the team.

“His blend of academic insight, genuine passion for sport and interest in entrepreneurship makes him a great fit for the work we’re doing with Leicester Dynamite.

“This internship is about giving him meaningful, real-world experience in sports communications and ESG, while also bringing fresh ideas and energy into our projects over the coming months.”
