INFINITY

Positioning the public launch of an advanced technology park

SITUATION.

INFINITY is a company founded to create sovereign UK capability for the research, development and manufacture of components for fission, fusion and aerospace applications.

Its proposition brings together advanced manufacturing, digital engineering, testing, skills and supply-chain development at a planned 200-acre site at Infinity Park in Derby.

INFINITY needed to communicate a complex and evolving proposition to a wide range of audiences. Industry needed to understand the capability being developed; regional and UK Government stakeholders needed a clear case for the project’s strategic importance; and prospective partners and investors needed a simple route to engage.

INFINITY also required a public identity that could grow alongside the organisation from launch.

This meant a communications campaign which explained the proposition clearly, answered likely questions and provided a foundation for future announcements, partnerships and engagement.

INTERVENTION.

1284 began with a structured discovery process involving INFINITY’s leadership and delivery partners.

This comms strategy work clarified the organisation’s purpose, priorities and audiences, creating a launch framework for a communications strategy that could support the project’s early public phase.

The central challenge was making a technically detailed proposition understandable and succinct without reducing its substance.

1284 shaped a public narrative that connected INFINITY’s specialist capabilities with the wider needs of UK industrial strategy, skills and innovation.

1284 then worked with long-time associate Bulb Studios to develop a refreshed website.

The expanded platform was designed to guide different audiences through the organisation’s purpose, capabilities, location, public-interest context and routes to get involved.

The website was designed and built as a scalable communications asset rather than a static launch brochure. 1284 supported its development through project management, copywriting, design reviews, content updates, approval stages and post-launch refinements.

Alongside the digital platform, 1284 developed a content marketing campaign. This included launch messaging, press materials, boilerplate, imagery guidance, Government-level briefing note, and arranged professional photography.

The latter included organisation of photo shoots with two university vice-chancellors and the CEO of the Manufactuting Technology Centre.

It also resulted in 1284 associate Beth Walsh securing images with Chancellor John Healey MP after he delivered his first Economic Growth Speech.

In sum, activity created a consistent and high quality public story used by stakeholders for INFINITY’s initial joint-venture announcement and subsequent comms.

1284 then delivered targeted media and stakeholder outreach. This connected the launch with regional business media, relevant public-sector communications teams and influential editorial contacts. Media relations work secured two sit-down interviews in the first week.

The campaign created early visibility while establishing relationships that could support INFINITY’s next stage of communications.
