1284 Communications will sponsor the Charnwood Community Heroes Awards for the fourth year running.

The annual awards, organised by Charnwood Borough Council, recognise individuals and groups who contribute to the community through volunteering, leadership, environmental efforts, and community service.

1284 will this year sponsor the Brilliant Board Member and Trustee category.

This award highlights the essential role of trustees and board members in supporting the voluntary sector across Charnwood.

The leadership and commitment of trustees is vital to the sustainability and effectiveness of hundreds of community-based organisations across the borough.

1284 Communications Managing Director, George Oliver said: "1284 was founded to tell the stories of purposeful people from across the East Midlands and Charnwood Heroes does the same.

"This is the fourth year we've sponsored the event, as we think it's really important to recognise the contribution of people who give so much for our area."

The awards contribute to the community by:

  • Supporting local leadership
  • Strengthening community networks
  • Celebrating long-term commitment

In total there will be six categories for 2025:

  • Outstanding Contribution
  • Young Hero
  • Inspiring Others
  • Green Hero
  • Beyond the Call of Duty
  • Brilliant Board Member/ Trustee

The award ceremony takes place at Burleigh Court, close to 1284’s offices on the LUSEP campus in Loughborough, on 6 September, bringing together community members for an afternoon tea to celebrate the achievements of local volunteers and leaders.
