1284 helped to recognise volunteers in its borough by returning tosupport the Charnwood Community Heroes awards.

Charnwood Borough Council organised the celebration of the positive contributions of nominees with a ceremony at John Storer House in Loughborough on September 30.

There were multiple examples of volunteers, across 45 nominations, helping their communities.

Among those recognised were people supporting their neighbours, helping to run organisations such as food banks and youth clubs, and committing their time to fundraising and supporting vulnerable members of the community.

The event was sponsored by RandalSun Capital, with categories supported by 1284 and idverde. 1284 sponsored the Brilliant Board/Trustee Member category.

George Oliver, Managing Director of 1284, and trustee of 2nd Quorn Scouts and Leicester-based Charity Link, said: “We wanted to recognise the often unseen role of trustees and board members in making community activity possible.

“Trustees often aren’t visible, yet they are doing the essential administration, accounting, and fundraising that underpins so much of the public-facing activity.

“There's so much good community work going on in Charnwood that it doesn't all get fully recognised.

”It's been fantastic to see so many people celebrated for all they do in their neighbourhoods.”
