1284 Communications has become an accredited Living Wage Employer - reinforcing its commitment to fair pay and responsible business.
The accreditation, awarded by the Living Wage Foundation, means 1284 has made a formal, long‑term commitment to pay at least the Real Living Wage - the independently-calculated rate based on the actual cost of living - to everyone who works for the consultancy.
The salary benchmark goes beyond the Government’s National Living Wage. It places 1284 among thousands of UK organisations choosing to raise the bar on pay and workplace standards.
Real Living Wage status is the latest step in 1284’s wider push to hard‑wire quality and ethics into the way it operates.
1284 is already ISO 9001 accredited, demonstrating robust quality‑management processes, and holds Good Business Charter accreditation in recognition of its commitments on fair employment, prompt payment, environmental responsibility and ethical sourcing. It is also independently audited to Fair Payment Gold - for prompt payment of suppliers - and Cyber Essentials Plus, for its approach to data security.
Viewed together, the certifications provide clear, externally-validated guide rails for how the business is run - offering clients and partners extra assurance about how their work is delivered with 1284 Communications in their supply chain.
As a consultancy working with universities, fast‑growing businesses, charities and the public sector, the move underlines that companies of any size can grow while paying fairly and sticking to clear standards.
1284 Managing Director George Oliver said: “Paying the Real Living Wage is about looking after our team and suppliers, but it is also about building long‑term resilience.
“We aspire to provide comms campaigns that are delivered in the right way, and paying the Real Living Wage is a big part of that. We’ve always paid staff at this level - the certification formalises our approach and shows our support for the campaign.
“Alongside our ISO 9001 and Good Business Charter accreditations, it sends a signal to clients, partners, and future colleagues that we’re serious about building a successful consultancy that is built on fair work and independently-audited standards.”
